T2T 5K Honors First Responders & Military Members
On September 11th, 2001, firefighter Stephen Gerard Siller completed his shift with Brooklyn Squad 1. He planned to spend the remainder of the day playing golf with his three brothers, but when he got word of American Airlines Flight 11 crashing into the north tower of the World Trade Center, his plans changed.
Siller returned to Squad 1 for his gear and drove his truck to the entrance of Brooklyn Battery Tunnel. The tunnel was closed, but that didn’t keep Siller from carrying out his duty to help others. He fastened 60 pounds of gear to his back and ran through the tunnel, taking his final steps into the Twin Towers.
Each year in New York City, first responders, service members and civilians run side by side, not only in Siller’s memory but also in his courageous footsteps. Among the Tunnel to Towers (T2T) 5K participants are members of JTR Solutions.
T2T and JTR originally united to improve the foundation’s server management during extreme user loads, but their partnership has developed into so much more. JTR Solutions is a proud supporter of the T2T 5K Run & Walk in New York City, running and raising money annually to donate to the Tunnel to Towers’ honorable cause.
The T2T 5K, which began in New York City, now takes place in several locations, such as Lake Zurich, IL, Carbon County, PA, Charlotte, NC and Jackson, MI. To register for an event near you, or to donate please visit tunnel2towers.org.
